At the famous Optina monastery, tradition is of the utmost importance. Every day, the Orthodox priest makes a small procession through the grounds — only this priest has a particularly interesting procession line in tow.
Holding a cross and a lantern, the priest leads a line of cats through the grounds of the monastery, many cats joining in the procession as they walk along.
