At some time in our lives, we have contemplated selling all of our possessions and exploring the world. Perhaps logistics like having a young family or fear keeps putting off the itch for another time that realistically may never come for the majority of us. However, one couple in Michigan decided to turn a dream into reality. Matt and Jessica Johnson sold their house, car and possessions to buy a boat. They left their lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan behind on August 2011 to sail the world.
Thus far, they have visited 16 countries like Bahamas, Peru, Guatemala and Cuba. The couple married 11 years ago and enjoyed successful careers: Matt as a sales manager at an automotive dealership and Jessica as billing specialist. Nonetheless, they both found themselves in front of the TV on weekends feeling unfulfilled.
Joining them in their adventures is a cat named Georgie, adopted from a shelter. Matt and Jessica hope to venture further but are hesitant due to the deep waters and potential storms. Their journey may serve as inspiration to those wondering if it can done.
