Games of Thrones is no small show. Aired in more than 150 countries around the world, this epic, fantasy world is HBO’s biggest success. Fans from around the world cannot get enough of the story, actors, and stunning locations.
The series is one of the largest TV productions in history. The show has been filmed in Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland, and Morocco. In season five, the crew descended in a small, sleepy town called Osuna in Spain. The filming there could not come at a better time for residents struggling to survive in a 35% unemployment rate, the highest in all of Spain.
The main location used in the filming was a bull fighting stadium called Plaze de Toros. You may recall the scene where the Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi, is surrounded by the golden mask assassins coming to kill her and her supporters before she is rescued by one of her dragons. This 17-minute sequence changed the life for Osuna forever.
