If you love to cook, chances are you also have the tools needed to create delicious meals. For Reddit user Slabmir, his cooking skills must be quite popular as he and his girlfriend both received knife blocks for Christmas. The thought was great but the two pieces ended up taking up too much space on the counter.
The Canadian handyman instead chose to display his knives on a magnetic wood board. Check out his DIY. It's a lot easier than expected. Just don't be surprised when friends start to ask what time dinner is served.
Two knife blocks given as Christmas gifts took up too much counter space.
A piece of olive wood from the local hardware store will serve as the board.
First, marks where made indicating where the magnets will go on the board. More holes were added after the first trial was not strong enough to hold up the larger knives.
The handy Canadian used a test board before drilling holes in the original.
You can see more holes were added than initially planned. This ensured neither the knives nor the board would fall off from the weight.
Wood glue was used to secure the magnets. The mounting hardware was installed as well.
