Fourteen year old Andrew Mason is responsible for saving his life and the life of his siblings during a home invasion. His parents were away during the incident, in which a stranger had knocked on the door. After Andrew saw the stranger’s face on the security and didn’t recognize him, he did not allow him. The intruder however, pushed the front door’s glass and managed to get inside the house with another assailant.
Andrew took his siblings with him and hid in the closet, where he had his rifle and called 911. One of the attackers opened the closet door and saw Andrew and the weapon, after which he made a quick getaway in a vehicle which was parked outside the house.
Andrew’s father had taught him how to use weapons and had prepared him for an emergency event like this. He acted bravely and stepped forward to protect the lives of his family. This brave teenager is an example of how a dangerous situation should be handled. Although some items were stolen, the lives of Andrew and his family remained outside the scope of danger and that is all that matters.
